Agilitas-backed Cibicom expands with the acquisition of Telpartner

Agilitas, the pan-European mid-market private equity firm, has today announced that its portfolio company Cibicom (“the company”), a leading Danish mission-critical communication networks provider, has acquired Telpartner, a DAS (Distribution Antenna Systems) solutions provider.

Cibicom is the leading digital transmission, communications and data infrastructure provider in Denmark. It owns, manages and operates mission-critical communication networks used in the Danish defense, coastal and public transportation sectors.

Telpartner, established in 2003 and headquartered in Stenløse, Denmark, is one of the leading suppliers of DAS solutions, providing critical indoor mobile communication coverage to its public and enterprise customers. It works with a variety of public and enterprise customers across Denmark, Sweden and Norway, which include the Copenhagen Cityringen Metro, the Copenhagen Airport, the Øresund Bridge and several large hospitals.

The acquisition of Telpartner reinforces Cibicom’s position as a leading provider of communication solutions in Denmark. By adding complementary indoor solutions to Cibicom’s existing nationwide transmission masts network, the company is now able to offer integrated and reliable coverage for both indoor and outdoor mobile communications.

The market for indoor mobile coverage and related communication solutions is growing at a fast rate. Telpartner is a leading player in this market, having successfully provided indoor antenna solutions to customers with critical communication needs such as hospitals and airports, as well as some of the country's largest contractors, for more than 15 years. The company has a strong reputation for its high-quality services across Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

The strategic acquisition of Telpartner marks the third add-on transaction for Cibicom since Agilitas backed the buyout of the company in 2018. In 2019, Cibicom acquired Relacom (now Cibicom Services), a provider of towers and services for broadcast and other communication-based solutions, and in 2021, Cibicom partnered with Sense Solutions to grow its Internet of Things (“IoT”) operations. This latest acquisition will continue to accelerate Cibicom’s ambitious plans to expand and to grow its data transmission product offering, as it has done for IoT, fiberoptic and datacenters.

Michael Meister, CEO of Cibicom, commented: “We have strategically targeted the indoor communication market because it is complementary to our outdoor communication solutions offering and because it is a fast-growing market. The increasing use of low-energy building materials and the higher speed mobile frequencies of 5G make it increasingly difficult for signals to penetrate buildings. We often experience it today when we enter parking garages, tunnels and hospitals, for example. Together with Telpartner, we can now offer a comprehensive and secured service for mobile communication”.

Michael Carlsen, Telpartner's technical director, commented: “Telpartner has been growing very successfully and becoming part of Cibicom will allow us to reach the next step of our development. We will benefit from having a strong partner with installation service capabilities across Denmark. Having worked with Cibicom in the past, this acquisition feels like a natural step for us as together we have a stronger, more comprehensive offering that will benefit our customers and ensure we are better prepared to answer the demand for mobile private networks".

Martin Calderbank, Managing Partner at Agilitas, said: “The acquisition of Telpartner is an important strategic acquisition for Cibicom. It marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth and will help accelerate Cibicom’s transformation plan. The complementary nature of Telpartner’s services will enable Cibicom to offer a more comprehensive product to its customers and strengthen its unique position while maintaining its reputation as a provider of the highest quality critical communication solutions in a fast-growing market”.

Following the acquisition, Telpartner will continue to operate under its own brand name and will be moving into Cibicom's headquarters in Ballerup.
